What to Pack for a Trip to Las Vegas?
Your room and flight are booked, your show tickets are purchased, and you only have one thing left to do before you’re on your way to the place known as sin city: Pack.
Obviously, you’ll need all the usuals as you’re heading some place other than your home: clothes, toiletries, credit cards.
But this is Vegas, and this trip is special. And if this is your first time, there are a few essentials that you may not realize you need.
Before you leave home, make sure to triple check these critical items, because without these, you won’t be able to do anything in Vegas:
- Proper ID – Driver’s license or regular IDs must NOT be expired
- Credit Cards
- Cash – Make sure there’s enough
- Condoms – you never know if you may need these. Better safe than sorry.
- Passport – Just in case you’ve lost your ID
When it comes to clothing, your packing list will be determined by your choice of activities. There are two type of Las Vegas tourists. There are those who focus on their visit on the nightlife and glamour of the strip, and others favor the natural surrounding of the desert oasis. Some people would rather spend 24 hours each day in an air-conditioned casino, sipping daiquiris at a poolside bar, or exploring the surrounding canyons. Whichever type of person you are, you’ll have to pack something.
- Comfortable shoes: Visiting Las Vegas often involves going to hotels and casinos. In Las Vegas, you’ll walk plenty! Although these casinos look like they’re within walking distance, they’re further apart than they appear. You’ll be doing a lot of ‘strip crawling’ and even inside the hotels are huge. So be sure to pack those sturdy walking shoes.

Summer Season Items
- If visiting during the spring or summer months, swimwear and cover ups are important.
- Consider packing a pair of flip flops for walking on unbearably hot concrete if the pool is outside (or to and from your hotel room)
- Daytime Attire: Sun dresses, shorts, t-shirts, and tank tops are a must for daytime wear. Having a hat or cap for shading the sun away helps a lot too.
- It’s always a good idea to bring a light jacket or sweater. Even though it’s warm or hot outside it can get cool after dark and the air conditioning inside some casinos can get chilly.
- Vegas is full of pools, beach clubs, and outdoor activities where you’re going to catch quite a few sun rays. Sunny pool parties are lots of fun but being sunburnt isn’t.

- Ladies, you might some personal items like a blow dryer, hair iron, or hair rollers. If not packed, its best to check to see if your hotel supplies these.
Hangover Survival Kit:
Bring all the reinforcements you can to help keep the party going through the weekend:
- Bottled water
- Aspirin
- If you have any of your own favorite hangover remedies, pack them, too.
Hotels keep these things down at the front desk and sell individual doses at hotel prices. But you know you’re going to be drinking, so come prepared.

When you head to Vegas, expect the unexpected. Be prepared for anything and keep your technology handy to record your experiences. Consider packing your:
- Camera
- Cell Phone Chargers
- Expendable duffel or travel bag for extra shopping on the road
- Wireless Speaker (for getting ready in the hotel room)
